  1. This is very funny. Old and large organs invariably have a stop or a combination that is seldom if ever used and which produces an extraordinary sound – eg ‘throttled goat’. Couple that with the traditional tension between clergy and organists and hey presto!

    • I thought it was something that needed to be clicked to hear the stop. We have a combination new digital with old pipes organ which just developed a leak in one of the one hundred year old air chests. The whistle was right behind the tenors (me) and was most annoying. There is probably a stop that is either sub-audible or annoying and that the organist never uses, but it couldn’t be as bad as that whistle….
